SUMMARY:Federal Transportation Reauthorization: What Comes Next for America’s Infrastructure
DESCRIPTION:Federal Transportation Reauthorization: What Comes Next for America’s Infrastructure\nMonday\, August 17  |  12:00–1:00 p.m. CT\nFree virtual event \nLincoln Forum and the Union League Club of Chicago Transportation Subcommittee\, with POLITICO as media partner\, are bringing together national and Illinois transportation leaders for a timely conversation about the next federal transportation reauthorization bill. \nFederal transportation reauthorization determines how billions of dollars are invested in roads\, bridges\, transit and other essential infrastructure across the country. The legislation establishes the funding and policy framework that shapes America’s transportation network\, supports economic growth and guides how states and communities plan for the future. \nFormer Congressman Rodney Davis of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and Dean Franks of the American Road & Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA) will discuss the national priorities taking shape in Washington and what is at stake for the country’s infrastructure. Erin Aleman of the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) and Kevin Artl of ACEC Illinois will provide an Illinois perspective\, examining how federal transportation policy and investment could affect the state\, the Chicago region\, and local infrastructure priorities. \nThe conversation will be moderated by POLITICO Transportation Reporter Sam Ogozalek. Welcome remarks will be given by Shia Kapos\, author of POLITICO’s Illinois Playbook.
